Moments
“Make the most of every opportunity . . .”
Ephesians 5:16
Armin Houman once said, “Life is not measured by time. It is measured by moments.”
The ancient Greeks had two words for time: chronos and kairos. Chronos is about making good time. Kairos is about enjoying the journey.
Mark Batterson writes, “Kairos . . . is the sixth sense that perceives the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Kairos doesn’t keep time as much as it makes time. When it discerns a holy moment, it takes off its shoes.”
What a great reminder.
Whether we’re on the challenge course or walking to the next activity, Holy Spirit, help us to be sensitive to those moments where you are moving in the lives of the teens we serve. Remind us not to rush to the next thing, but to make kairos time.
As someone else echoed, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take. But by the moments that take our breath away.”
Living God, take our breath away at camp this year!
