Praying Down Strongholds
Friends who are missionaries in a Muslim country in the 10/40 window, recently reflected on strongholds. A lime tree in their neighbor’s yard is ripe for the picking, but a wall prevents them from enjoying the fruit. While my friend could climb a ladder and grab a few limes hanging over the side (she did not), she would never have access to the whole tree UNTIL the wall is removed and the fruit claimed.
What about our campers and mentees? What walls protect their hearts, pushing God and others from their lives? What strongholds prevent them from being fruitful?
Strongholds like:
Sexual abuse.
Feelings of hopelessness and unworthiness.
Poverty.
Fear.
Toxic relationships.
Addictions.
T.R.A.C. is an opportunity for the youth we serve to encounter the God who breaks down walls and brings freedom. Before campers even board the bus this summer, let’s spend intentional time praying down strongholds.
Join us in asking: “Father God, thank you for bringing at-risk youth to Teen Reach Adventure Camp. We ask for your help in pointing them to you, the only God who can bring lasting change. Please break down the walls and strongholds in these young lives that are preventing growth and fruit. Demolish strongholds of sexual abuse, feelings of hopelessness and unworthiness, poverty, fear, toxic relationships and addictions. Apart from you, we can do nothing lasting. But with you, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Protect the futures you have planned for these youth and draw them to you. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.”
