I’ll Meet You There

By Jenny Chandler, Norman, OK T.R.A.C.life Director

I will take power outages every single day if I get to have more moments like this one.

My son Waylon was lying next to me when I pulled my Bible out to read by flashlight. He jumped up and ran to his room, returning with his Bible. (I didn’t even know he knew where it was, let alone be able to find it in the dark!)

The first thing Waylon said was, “Let’s find Mark 10:14.” While I started to read, he repeated the verse from memory.

I was speechless, but what he said next brought me to tears.

I picked my Bible up, fully intending to read the Old Testament passage I’d been studying when Waylon asked, “What are you reading? I’ll meet you there.”

I’ll meet you there.

I was floored. He wanted to read Luke, so we read most of Chapter 5. I read some; he read some. Reading by flashlight together was an incredible moment I won’t forget.

I’ll meet you there.

What an amazing choice of words from my almost 7-year-old.

We had tornadoes yesterday and ended up with minor damage and no power. I can’t tell you how many people stopped to help. They didn’t say they were too busy or helping was too inconvenient. In their own way, they said, “I’ll meet you there.”

Much like Jesus meets us right where we are.

We don’t have to have it all together. We don’t have to be on the right path before we come to Jesus. He will meet us right where we are.

Let Him meet you there.

Thank you, Lord, for speaking to me through my little boy . . . for reminding me to have child-like faith.
