Meet CJ, T.R.A.C. Tampa, Florida, Director

CJ joined the leadership team at T.R.A.C. Tampa, Florida, in January 2020 and became the director the following year after completing leadership training.

T.R.A.C. has impacted CJ’s life by confirming his interest in connecting with teens. He loves having conversations with campers as they are trying to figure out their path in life. Once they are comfortable at camp, they are especially willing to ask the real questions which sometimes have challenged CJ to strengthen his own stance on various topics. In addition, being involved with T.R.A.C. has also solidified his desire to foster (and eventually adopt) a couple of pre-teens/teens once he is married.

During boys’ T.R.A.C. this year, CJ made time to swim with the campers. All they wanted to do was wrestle CJ and flip him underwater. Let’s just say, CJ showed them his strength (while being safe, of course).

(Note to directors: you’ve worked all year to make camp happen. Be intentional to hang out with campers. It will bless and encourage you and remind you of your WHY.)

When CJ is not volunteering with T.R.A.C., he works in HR with a specialty in Organizational Development. Currently, he is working on completing two professional certifications while he searches for a new job. When he’s not working, you will find CJ weight training, biking, playing tennis, cooking and hosting people, or hitting up a beach in the Tampa Bay area.

CJ is a middle child with an older sister and a younger brother. He enjoys being a “funcle” to his three nephews. His parents have been married for over 35 years, and they are the epitome of opposites attracting in a great way. Something you may not know about CJ: he can work a dance floor with some traditional ballroom dances.

Just dive in and do it.

That’s CJ’s advice to someone considering volunteering at T.R.A.C. If you are thinking about helping, you obviously want to be part of the ministry. Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll inherit a family of people with a similar passion to serve this community of teens.

Thank you, CJ. We’re so glad you’re part of the Teen Reach family!
