Mentoring Moment: The Long View
Fourteen years ago, Teen Reach added a pregnancy clause to T.R.A.C. so pregnant teens could attend camp. One of these teen moms is now 32. Three weeks ago, I got a call because her car broke down. Without a vehicle, she would get evicted because she couldn’t get to work.
“I’m going to call CPS and give up my kids,” she told me in desperation. One call and Christ Place Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, which sponsors T.R.A.C. and T.R.A.C.life paid for the parts and one of the mentors fixed her vehicle.
Talk about a miracle.
We’ve had pregnant teens at camp, but I just got a call from our T.R.A.C.life director in Torrance, California, asking if we could mentor a pregnant camper.
Guess who’s her mentor? A doctor.
Sounds like a match made in Heaven.
Talk about the long view. Camp is three days. Mentoring lasts a lifetime.
Thank you for joining us . . . to impact this generation and the next.
