Meet Christy, T.R.A.C.life Mentor from Erie, Pennsylvania

Christy has been volunteering at T.R.A.C. for the last 5 years—the first two as a camp counselor, and the following three as the Dean of Women. She is entering her second year as a mentor in the T.R.A.C.life program.

In addition to grabbing lunch together, Christy and her mentee have enjoyed hanging out at the beach, playing miniature golf, bowling, attending a hockey game, and seeing Annie at the theatre. Most recently, the two took an art class together.

T.R.A.C.life blessed Christy with a mentee who has become a friend. She truly enjoys their time together and watching her mentee grow and mature into such a beautiful young lady. The progress is amazing.

Christy always tries to find a sincere compliment to give her mentee when they are together. Seeing her smile is a treasure.

When Christy is not volunteering with T.R.A.C.life, she is a stay-at-home mom of two kids. Bobby is 16, studying to get his license and currently on the high school basketball team. Twelve-year-old Sophie has Down Syndrome and brings so much joy to their family. Sophie's favorite activity is her weekly dance class with other special needs kids. Christy says she is blessed to be married to a man who has such a compassionate heart to help others and sets such a good example for their kids to follow.  In her spare time, she loves exploring local thrift stores for bargains. According to her husband and son, Christy is also a good storyteller.

To someone considering volunteering, Christy’s advice: just jump in. There may be bumps in the road, but it's mostly about showing up and being consistent. The sacrifice of time is worth it, something you will definitely look forward to doing!
