Shout Out to Dawn, T.R.A.C.life Mentor from Austin, Texas

Dawn has been involved in T.R.A.C for 8 years as a camp counselor. Last year, she signed up to be a mentor with T.R.A.C.life, an experience Dawn treasures. 

Ashlynn and Dawn have done many things together, including bowling, miniature golf, swimming, getting manicures, and watching a movie. They have had a fun year!  

T.R.A.C.life has been great! Dawn loves how the program is set up for keeping a consistent relationship.  Meeting frequently keeps Dawn super up to date on Ashlynn’s friendships and classes and what is going on in her life, which in turn makes Dawn feel like she gets to truly play an active role in her mentee’s life. Ashlynn is an A-B student, and Dawn is helping her pursue college after she graduates. 

Taking a painting class tops their list of favorite things they have done together! Neither had done anything like it, so the opportunity created a space for them to not only try something new but also laugh a lot in the process.  

Dawn’s life outside of T.R.A.C.life is jam packed. She’s a mom to 3 boys ages 11, 9 and 6. In addition, she is the kids’ church director at their church and a preschool teacher. 

Something unique about Dawn is her husband is a pastor. They have such a heart for kids and teens and truly love pouring into and sharing Jesus with the next generation. 

If you are considering volunteering with T.R.A.C.life, Dawn suggests praying about it. You can lead a busy life and still mentor. Dawn wholeheartedly believes you truly can change the trajectory of a young person’s life AND have FUN while doing it!!
